I'll admit, this AA idea is more for flavor than for actual game mechanics, although maybe some useful mechanic could be added it it.

Title: Make them Surrender

Essentially it would work very similar to Finishing Blow except instead of killing a mob, when the mob's health gets low you would get an emote something like "Due to So-and-so's convincing persuasion, [mob name] has chosen to surrender" At which point the mob would despawn, the group with get equivalent exp, and a chest would spawn with all the loot that was on the mob.

I know not practical at all, but would at times like to play a paladin that doesn't gang-beat every mob they come across.

hmm. Some raid events use this mechanic, like ARo off the top of my head. Not sure about an AA, but very interesting concept none-the-less.

Odeen event for FC progression has similiar as does a couple epic fights ... but isnt the submission part of the script not an effect per say so coded as such based on a if hp value goes below such and such a value then the script for surrender occurs ? Basically Im not sure if they could write in a code for enforced surrender easily but I imagine anything is possible. There is also those Golem control wands that make them poof. I guess the real question is would such an ability have a practical function or simply be a gimmick ?

It'd be a gimmick, but a useful one for RPers of a good persuasion. Thank god paladins aren't as uptight in EQ by mechanics as they were in D&D. Sending them around a bend every time you wanted to loot a corpse sucked. =D
