AC or HP Augs?

I have been reading a lot of gear checks and it seems that many people are suggesting decking out with the viable 1 groupable ac augs. Flamesheild and so on. I even saw one suggesting 9 slots with AC augs. I don't know if it's just me but does everyone completely believe that AC augs trump HP ones? I Think a balance would be great and as of right now I know I need more AC, but I prefer the HP ones over them. What are all your thoughts on the ac aug vs. hp aug? Is there a difference between augs for a non raider and for a raider? Also what would the opportune unbuffed AC be (without the "more is better" response)?

I think that is all the questions I have lol.

For a tank I would say AC augs hands down.

Most of the people in my guild won't touch the FC AC aug camp without at least 2 3k+ tanks, for various reasons. I'm still working on AC augs, I hope at some point to hit 3.5 or so and have the 100 ac clicky from hanvar hoop, or the various other clicks out there. Sk in my guild is close to 4k, we have 1-2 3800+ warriors, and lemme tell ya, there's a night and day diff watching one of those warriors tank Vergalid's End raid mob (the gnome with the clockworks that hit for 20k) compared to virtually anyone else. Also a huge diff in watching someone at 3k+ tank an aug mob in anguish versus someone with less AC. Monk in my guild is sitting at 3kac (unsure if buffed or unbuffed) and he tanks almost as well as some of the warriors.

's over 3100ac unbuffed, Gal, having already started replacing some ac augs. I'm 3kac with aura or songs (don't need both), and the only ac aug I wear is in my shield.

interesting conversation. My paladin I'm leveling is at 1500ac and 7000hps buffed with cleric and shaman at 60. That account only is activated up to LoY because it's my bazaar mule account. I'm waiting for another compilation set to activate the rest of the expansions. I'm kinda hurting for ac/hp augs because I'm limited on the content available to me. Right now, I'm hitting the hotzones to get the augs dropped from the unmasked changelings. I take it the 10ac/45hp aug from CZ would best be placed in my shield? He's only sitting at 70 aa's or so right now.

ok, here we are what..13 expansions into EQ and were still asking this age old question. Well i got 1 simple solution...BOTH. there are alot of augs out there that have both hp and ac on them, and for the rest, mix it up. take the best of both worlds. Blessed Shard in shield, but then go hp and ac mixtures. yes ac will help u take hits better, but hp will survive ae's alot better than ac. when in doubt, throw in some anguish hp augs. hp + mod2's..cant go wrong there. just ac is bad and just hp is bad. Theres just too many 1 groupable/quest augs out there that are better than even some raid augs. can check out my magelo for ideas if u want. 1142975 is my magelo code.

Whether you have a million hp or a million ac, you can still get unlucky. So no point in trying to plan for that. I was in frostcrypt with a warrior (23k buffed, 3200ac or so), and the cleric had to chain CH to keep up. Then he had to go, and instead we got an 18k/4k war from the same guild. The difference was unreal.
