Why are so many Paladins screaming for more DPS

Just poking in here for a correction on statement 2. Divine Arbitration IS aggro free, however cleric epic 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 is not aggro free. There is a small amount of aggro associated with the epic.

You guys need to start a new thread or something. Everytime I see new posts to see if any new input about our DPS is about, I just see people arguing about how a spell one of our own works and how we can nerf it.

he kinda does have a point shiftie. not busting you out in particular but a few others when i say this. This thread has lost its point, altho imo it really never had a point to begin with. But the discussion now seems to be "Is Aurora overpowered in its current form, or is it wrong in some way?" This whole discussion has no point in the relevance toward DPS. A new thread should be started if this discussion should need to continue. 1 that can be dedicated toward Aurora alone, breaking down the details of it, full analysis and full of opinions. Hell people can take it 1 step further and parse aurora in comparison to other heal spells i guess, from paladin heals to other classes heals...Sky's the limit.

But none of this has any relevance toward dps.

Aurora is at its core a self heal. The reason it is a self heal is because it sets the priority to heal you first. It splashes over as a secondary effect. You cannot change the priority of the heal on the spell by setting it as a group heal. As a group heal or group buff it wouldn't set you as priority #1 all parties involved would be hit at the same time. To change the way the heal works not just the color of the gem would change the smart heal factor and render it pointless in relation to the other heals we have.

If you cast brells it hits all party members at the same time.

If you cast a group heal it hits all party members at the same time.

If you cast aurora it hits you first and then balances the other HP.

Changing aurora to match the functionality of the group heals or group buffs would change how the spell works entirely if you can't rationalize that -it isn't my fault. You can't tell me to hold the hyperbole when I am stating pure fact. The aggro from the spell follows that exact same process which is why you don't get aggro if you aren't in combat. It works exactly like casting silent piety on yourself in the proximity of a mob. You gain a beneficial buff that reflects spells etc why doesn't the mob notice that you are protecting yourself and gain aggro? If they want to add aggro to the spell or make it into a group buff then so be it, but not for any of the reasons you stated because they are poor arguments. "If" they decide to make that kind of a change it will certainly change how the spell works entirely in relation to the methods you described vs how it currently works.

You keep saying if i use a self buff i wouldn't aggro.. I say 'any' beneficial spell should transfert 'some even if minimalist' aggro from the target to the caster.
thus, if i cast a self buff, I transfert agro from myself to myself.. I didnt have any to start with, then i get none.. if i buff someone else, i get a bit of his.
Still : aurora spill heal to group and don't work when not grouped, thus it is a group spell wrongly flagged as a self only one.

You begining to sound like the rightwing nuts that think a bit of 'socialism' (like healthcare public insurance) = communism. that 1% taxe equal 'you're taking ALL my hard earned money!'
Add a bit of aggro would change aurora entirely:
It would stop simply to heal people?
It would stop costing mana?
It would start to work when solo ?
It would become a nuke instead ?
'Entirely' mean 'every aspect' , 'everything' .. when 1% = 100% ..that's hyperbole.

This whole conversation is pointless. The devs have not indicated that they believe anything is wrong with Aurora. They are the only ones that could change it. If you want it changed that badly, take it up with them and provide your logic to convince them. However, I follow the "its not broke, so don't fix it" methodology in this game.

I use it especially for times that I don't want agro. If you cannot think of any times that you would love to heal a group mate and not get on the agro list, then I suggest you've not seen or dealt with the raid fights that I have. I don't really care that some paladin can exploit it and heal a warrior in zeka by managing to stay in OOC regen with minimal effort. So can a merc, but a merc comes with better buffs and rezzes and no interest in loot.

Point is, there is no reason for this discussion at all. Based on the fact that very few within this class board would like to see it nerfed, and that I don't know of ANY paladin in game that views this spell as a problem, and that I do enjoy its use, I'm not sure why people here are trying to convince the rest of us (with no power anyway) that it needs to be changed. We might as well argue about tea prices in China, with about as much effect.

If you are trying to rally other paladins to screaming for a self-nerf, I'm not sure what to say. I don't think I've seen that work for any class. To really get a nerf pushed through, you kinda need blunt force and a spin-doctor (SEE: WoT arguements from the warrior).

I <3 the moderating that has been going on lately. Really the whole post was a personal attack? Such ridiculousness.

So much is personal attacks that it's not worth picking out the very questionably good content.

The "status quo" is perfect with regards to this spell nearly all of the paladin community likes the way this spell works. Your logical argument is asking for a nerf.

Moderating is a good thing,people should expose their opinion without having someone throwing random insult in.
I know debate can get very hot, and myself have sometime been derailing into personal attack, but it s counter productive.
