I would just like to repeat my earlier call for an AE undead nuke at this point. One that does about 75 DPS when used against 4 targets. I'd like it to be a completely separate line so that we have at least 2 undead nukes that we can be casting.

I think this would be fun. It would compensate paladins somewhat for the 150+dps lost when Last Rites and Burial Rites were linked without warning. It is in keeping with our class, and does not step on any other class's toes.

Spells that gray out ALL of our spells annoys me. Why do any spells have to do that? Recast timer? Sure! But all spells? Come on!

The greying out of spellgems is there to balance the high heal and fast cast time combo. Don't use it if you don't like it =p. (Not that I would mind it if the greying out was removed).

Could care less about bursts being unlinked as I never used both to begin with and still to this day dont understand why some do as it perma keeps your spell gems locked out and just doest seem that useful to me.

The nukes on the other hand DO need unlinked. I fully agree with the linking of Burial Rites + Benediction as they have the same effect to the nuke. However Last Rites (our 68 nuke) should be seperated as its side effect has nothing to do with increasing melee attack for future swings.

I guess one can make the arguement of linking them over the fact Last Rites + (Benediction/Burial Rites) all have a AC debuff, and in which case simply remove the AC debuff from Last Rites.

Pallys dps is by far the most pathetic of any class in EQ these days, to take away something else towards that doesnt feel right to me.

It's supposed to be a great burst heal used in situations when you or someone else takes a bad round and goes down too low to be healed in time with Light. It still is. The problem isn't with the bursts in themselves, but that many feel they don't have a proper heal to use as their "regular" heal, so that they can leave burst until it's really needed. Light is simply not efficient enough, and has to be cast too often with only a semifast casttime. I've never been a fan of Cleansing, but I suppose it could alleviate some of the need to spam Light. The problem is that not even Cleansing is very efficient. Counting an extra tick from the AA, and counting Light's innate 39% bonus from healing adept, but ignoring the chance for HoTs and heals to crit, we get an efficiency of 4.54 on Cleansing vs 3.74 on Light. I'm pretty sure the crits on regular heals (which, given more ranks and a longer AA line than the HoT counterpart) will most likely make Light catch up to Cleansing's efficiency. Not to mention the overhealing that Cleansing will do when mob isn't doing much damage, and the extra patching that needs to be done when he gets a good round in.

The solution many enjoyed using was to juggle the bursts, seeing as they cast very fast, very seldom fail due to interrupts, and give you plenty of time to do other stuff between casts (though not cast spells quite as much, obviously). They're not even inefficient when compared to Light - unfocused they have virtually the same efficiency! I can see the attraction of this, but I would much rather have a stable, efficient semifast casting heal (like Light, but more efficient and slightly stronger) that removed the need to juggle the bursts, and removed the need to even think about using a HoT. Something like a merge of Light and Touch (Touch's strength, range and efficiency in Light's casting time). Who even mems Touch anymore?

well i think that every spell greys out spell gems right? at least the group heals do, you get about 6 seconds of TOTAL greyout and then another... hmm, 24 seconds of recast remaining. i'ts a 30 second recast but the clock ticks while the six second greyout is in effect.

Don't have much time because of an awards ceremony shortly and packing up to fly home.

However, here's my points in short order:

1) AE undead nuke would be fun. Because killing undead is fun.
2) A new undead nuke would help us regain a part of the DPS we lost when BR and LR were linked to Benediction.
3) An AE undead nuke would be singularly distinguished from the single target nukes we have, so we wouldn't run into this situation again, where a spell line gets nerfed because it is too similar to another spell line.

and in direct refutation of your position that it would be totally worthless...

4) we already have plenty of genuinely worthless spells that no one memorizes. Please don't falsely compare the idea of an AE undead only nuke to something like Thunder of Karana or Breath of Tunare. An AE undead nuke might be not worth very much to you (although it WOULD increase your DPS against undead, undeniably, so it has SOME measurable worth), but that does not place it in the same category as the spells I mentioned above. Speaking for myself, I am quite sure I could find numerous uses for it, even if you are not up to the challenge.

No dindaur, only some of the heals (fast, hot and I guess group although never noticed it before) gray out your other spells.

When I started to play a cleric I was very surprised to see how fast you could cast other heals one after another.

It's not just efficiency that we lose, but heals per minute as well.

Can anyone honestly think of lets say, a half dozen situations that a lvl 80 Paladin would use an Undead AE Nuke in?

in world of warcraft there are stances.

i had this idea for dps, some sort of way of imitating the stance, maybe a buff, like uh VoV for clerics, except this'd be for paladins, and like the cleric buff, ours would cut heals and add dps through some proc or something similar.

it's hard to add dps to the paladin class without taking something away. I say this because I feel we are quite powerful at the moment. I think it would be a step towards imbalance to add live-dps without taking something away.

All spells grey out spellgems. The time they are greyed is dependant on their "fizzle time" as Lucy calls it. The standard fizzle time is 2.5 seconds, while burst spells have a fizzle time of 6 seconds.

Well I mean more than normal. 99% of the spells have 2.5 seconds.
