I'd say relax. Paladins (note, I am a paladin) have it pretty good right now. Stop crying wolf, don't get us put on dev /ignore over trivial items.

Demi belt focus description on the item - Who cares if the description is wrong if the focus works correctly.which it has. Trivial issue. AND fixed.

The TSS BP 75% fixed. The stuns are capped at 75, the focus works on rank 2, but the stun duration 3.0 seconds verification is pending. - Actually fast work for as many paladins actually HAVE this BP. Good issue, good work Hulk.

HoDisruption has no land message? - Its meant to interrupt spells and you get a message when it does. What does it matter if it lands otherwise? Just for the hate? If you didn't get a resist.... Another trivial issue. Neato to work on but nothing to go postal about.

Want new abilities? Open a thread, post ideas and thrash out pros and cons. Who knows a dev may sneak in here now and then and actually read something instead of seeing someone going off about trivial problems and logging off.

Small issues are good things. When there really is a big problem you'll see activity on the boards. Instead of the boy who called wolf maybe when we do have a huge issue and start yelling they'll listen.

1) As pointed out in http://crucible.samanna.net/viewtopic.php?t=4554 , the belt did not get fixed in the patch but rather more broken.

2) Whether or not the BP got fixed by changing the level on the stun to 75 is still debatable as argued elsewhere. Whether changing duration to 3 seconds will fix it or make it overpowered is debatable as well. Which is why we need to discuss it before pushing for changes.

3) We're not "going on" about trivial problems, we're (or at least I) am trying to state our case briefly and accurately. That means, using /bug and making sure that what Hullkling pushes on to the devs are widely agreed upon in our pally community. Apart from that, we can go crazy in our internal debates, and if there is consensus that a certain area needs to be addressed, we can take it further.

I was one that thought it was a bad idea for Hulkling to become our CC. Not because he wouldn't be outspoken enough, but because he was TOO confrontational (in a bad way) especially in warrior vs knight threads. I will say right now, I was completely wrong. He has done a great job and hasn't flipped out once that I have seen.

All he can do is forward problems. Not much more.

If you want to know what happened to the paladin community, let me tell you:

1) Paladins of Norrath: thriving ezboard community, costs rising exponentially, finally, was a decision to move it to an independent forum

2) Said forum (still called Paladins of Norrath) received maybe 30% the traffic as the old site (which was locked), and was slow and unwieldy, and would simply not load at all, or crash completely

3) During this time, more and more paladin traffic moved to the sony boards

4) PoN died, the hosting company screwed up etc, and it moved to samana's, and traffic was killed even further

5) Sony revamped their boards and condensed the class boards which killed a lot of traffic, but, prior to this they had shown through their inaction that the top 10 lists and then correspondant pipelines via "weekly" questions were ineffective in getting anything done, greatly reducing people's interest in posting and arguing

The switch of PoN from ezboard was done poorly, to a terrible hosting company, and it resulted in the near death of the paladin community that had at one point been as thriving as any class community. The rest just hit us harder and harder.

Add into that, the general reduction in community overall due to more and more people quitting and more and more accounts becoming boxed alts, as well as there becoming less and less pertinent information out there for "veterans" (seriously, how often does anyone learn anything reading class boards that they couldn't look up elsewhere now? not enough true newbies anymore and people don't direct others to sites like this as guilds make their own websites with class guides on forums and take the mentor approach).

That's the way I see it. I was a heavy poster in the original PoN. I posted much less on the PoN successor (I usually posted in balance discussions, or in response to posted questions, and with such little traffic there, it was rarely called for), and a heavy poster on the sony boards.

definately, that's what forums are about, free exchange of ideas / information primarily - problem solving is just taking advantage of the stage set forth by forums being hubs.

Sigh... I feel like I've failed everyone here, because I was one of the ones involved in the switch off of ezboards to our wayward wanderings on random hosting sites until we found this board... I wasn't one of the major players, but I was involved, and we did try our best as admins to provide a home for the community that we could use to try and come together and at least air some of our grievences to Sony. I'm sorry if it didn't turn out the way everyone who wanted to move hoped, but we had to do something... Staying on ezboards just wasn't going to happen unless something drastic changed in how the community was structured.

All your points are understandable, but blaming the lack of more voices coming out on the paladin's issues towards Sony 100% on the changeover from ezboards to the different hosting sites is not seeing the bigger picture. I also happen to agree with those that posted that said that the paladin class is doing well at this time, and while there are some problems that need to be fixed, overall we aren't doing too badly.

1) Sony has a history of very poor player relations. I've been playing for almost 7 years now, and it's not any different than what it was like when we started. Same complaints about devs not listening, about player concerns not getting heard, etc, just different people making the complaints.

2) Other games such as WoW and DAoC came out during this time, and many paladins (not to mention other classes) left EQ to go play something else. Paladins may have been hit harder than other classes because we've *always* felt that Sony didn't listen to our side of the story.

3) As a class, we've never really had a strong voice who could argue forcefully for things to change our way, a la Frodiin or something. I'm not that type of person, and I can't really think of someone who could be considered that sort of a voice. This would be someone who posts a lot, and more importantly, who posts a well reasoned and thought out argument, instead of something that's easy for the devs to either ignore or other people to take out of context and turn the argument around to something completely different. The reason Frodiin appears to get the devs eating out of his hand is because his arguments are well supported, even if they are somewhat bombastic and overblown...

4) Also, as a class, we tend to have widely different points of view on what we want to see the class become, which is fine. The problem in this lies that if we can't even agree on what we want as a class, how are we supposed to present a united front to Sony that says, this is how we want things to be, instead of arguing amongst ourselves over the best way to have this occur? The arguing amongst ourselves on Sony's board just makes the arguments look weaker, and no one pays attention to the content of the arguments even if they bring up valid points.

Now, going back to the original point of this post, which was to suggest ways of getting a better way for the paladin correspondant's voice to be heard by the devs, so that there would be tangible changes in the game... We can't really force Sony to change their PR strategy, given that it seems entrenched in stone, nor can we force people to come back to the game. What we can do as a class is present a better argument to the rest of the people that do play the game.

My suggestion is this: move all the arguing about what the paladin class should be from Sony's site to this board, so we can come to some sort of a consensus amongst ourselves before presenting it to the public on Sony's boards. After that, have ONE person (the class correspondant, perhaps?) present the general consensus of the paladin community to Sony's site, and not have any differing viewpoints from other paladins on that post.
