note: moved 9/24/06 when old PON boards came back up briefly.- val

I've been a member of this paladon community for quite awhile. I was around before the board change, and have looked at PoN since I was in elemental armor, drooling over the high-end people's magelos Razz.

I've seen a lot of class websites, and this is probabaly the most easy going, helpful, and friendly one of all. It's been a real pleasure posting here, and viewing this community.

I'm quitting everquest - or at least taking an extended break.

Keep this community going, and for the love of god, don't let them nerf WoT Smile.

I also always looked forward to reading your posts, but that is largely because I still chuckle every time I see what I did to your name Mr. Green

I kid! I kid!! I mean I DO still chuckle about that, but I also enjoyed your posts on their own merit. It is hard to tell anyone quitting EQ that they are doing the wrong thing, really; if I'd known how much it would distract me from real-life for how long, I probably wouldn't have started in the first place. But if you find yourself wandering back to Norrath, or even just want to say hi, stop by here anytime. We'll leave the light on for ya.

Safe travels, Bagar the Sexy the Sexy (how could I possibly post this without putting your name in the post somewhere?)

Some of my RL friends got me into WoW now, heh, so i've got a 18 warrior (Bagar the Sexy the Sexy) and a 13 paladin (Ladoros) on Medivh server. It's a pretty fun game - I haven't experianced enough of it to make a valid comparison, except that the lower levels seem better balanced to higher levels, and the graphics are insane. Tradeskills are a lot better, too.

My only complaints thus far are all of the kids that play it, and the fact that caps lock works - neither are bad by themselves, but when a little moron kid + caps lock gets into chat channels (HAY DOEZ NE1 WANT 2 JOIN MY GILD WERE JUST STARTING BUT WE PLAN 2 RAID SOON AS WE CAN GET SUM LVL60S WE HAV 10 PPL ATM BUT WE R RECRUITING NE1 THAT WANTS 2 JOIN WE WIL TAKE ALL LVLS PLZ SEND TELL 2 ME CUZ WE WILL FILL UP FAST). Laughing Laughing

Not sure if i'm gonna stick with Paladin or Warrior yet. Paladin isn't as much fun in groups as warrior, but a lot easier to solo and pvp on. All of the classes seem well balanced, but I gotta stick with a tank Wink .

imo, paladin is tons more fun then warrior, warrior is 2 things and only those, tank or dps, if you "spec" to tank your DPS is absolute crap, but if you spec to dps, your tanking doesnt take a hit (GG not forcing people to take certain paths =) )

Paladin tho theres a ton of crap you can do, heal, tank, dps,(if speced) cure, buff(best buffs in game! too bad they dont last long =/), and warriors are a ton more gear dependant ;p

btw, you can only tank dual wield / 2her up to end couple instances Bagar the Sexy the Sexy, then its straight sword/board ;p

oh yea, Warrior are better / more fun in PVP(ahh 2 hitting mages <3), pallies must play healbot in pvp or they simply dont do much if anything(they do more damage healing and curing then actually meleeing themselves) ;p

as for soloing they both pretty equal, pally can self heal and such but take longer to kill stuff, wars kill stuff faster and can eat/use bandages(2k heal per 8 sec ;p)

Doomhammer, alliance, come to a real server!

Haha, yeah, my RL friends are in a pretty high end guild (raiding Naxxramas, got first mob in plague wing down), so they're pretty much explained class roles. I agree that pvp is more fun on a warrior btw Razz charge is the best thing *evar*. Paladin at my level has limited aggro capabilities, but i'm told they get some seals that up their aggro a lot later on. One big difference is the much closer proximity between 2 hander dps and dual weild dps, and the fact that paladins don't get special 1 hander, while warriors are forced to use a shield a lot more.

I've more or less decided to stick with warrior and level pally as an alt, and i'll switch mains later if I feel like it. I am gonna fury (dps) spec, at least til 50+. My GF is playing a priest so we can pretty much duo most places, although solo xp is better, it's nice for hard quests.

My 2nd comp is dead Sad or i'd prolly make a 2nd account and start a mage.

PS: what spec do you recomend for my paladin as I level, considering he will mostly pvp and solo? Sorry if this is off-topic mods >< prolly should be in other games forum. I've hijacked my own goodbye thread!

I went the same way with warrior main, and raid a bit with it (after EQ raids lol maxed out in EQ ftl), and i gotta say tho, im enjoying my pally a ton more then i did my warrior(less downtime [zero downtime for pally, can burn mobs down faster then warriors, and regain mana per mob, right now at 40ish he can chain kill and never go under like 80% mana, even killing like 2-3 mobs at a time(love consecration]) =)

Warrior Fury is nice, id go 2h fury tho, unless your friends are twinking you hehe (good thing about fury is you can use any weapon set up to near maximum benifit), if you plan to pvp on war tho Arms (Mortal Strike) is your best bet till you get higher up , Fury tree is the most gear dependant but it scales best with gear, my warrior is dual wield fury =) most damaging in game hehe.

For your paladin actually id do a mix Retribution, then Holy then Protection(Down to kings mmm 10% stat buff <3)

something like This Clicky! generally imo, this build could work for everything, raiding, solo, pvp, group

id do it in this order tho, Ret first except hold pursuit of justice for your last two talents, after Ret is done, go full holy, then kings, then come back to ret for pursuit (+8% run and mount speed ftw!)

also, if its not too late, Pick Human! trust me if you plan to go high end raiding and such you will kick yourself for not picking it, 10% boost to "rep" ie faction, is the greatest thing ever, if i knew it was gonna be like that i woulda made my war human instead of gnome ;p

there are a bunch bunch bunch of great mods/add-ons as well, if youre interested =)

Yeah both my toons are human. After seeing my my rl friends "faction" for argent dawn and stuff, and how important it is, I decided the rep bonus and the +5 to swords / maces was > the coolness of gnomes (my original choice:P). Always wished i'd been a gnome pally in EQ Smile.

I've goten CT mods, with telos loot link and titan panel (the only addons my friends suggested I get atm).

My friends aren't twinking me, perse, but they've taken me through Deadmines to get some nice stuff, and gave me about 15 gold. Atm i'm in all green armor with a blue 2 hander (19.7 dps) from DM. Going to get a +7 enchant to it, hehe. I've done all the loch modan and westfall quests now, so i'm not too sure on where to go next, aside from deadmines.

I'm going mining / engineering on the warrior, and skinning / smithing on paladin. I figured that was a pretty good mix. GF is doing herbalism / alchemy (free heal pots 4tw).

mining / smithing for pally ;p and warrior id do enchanting! cheaper to do your enchants(kinda like auging =) ) then pay others to do em for you

maybe skinning / mining or herbalism for warrior as a "gathering" profession, can make money off AH(bazaar type thing) from those, mining or herb is a toss up which makes more tho

One of my rl friends is a 300 enchanter hehe, so no point in doing that, and the reason i'm doing mining on my warrior instead of pally, is because he'll level faster, and it's hella hard to find anything but copper veins until you get to level 20+ zones. I just send the smithing mats to pally when I don't need em for engineering anymore.

Got 20 tonight, getting 2 levels a day "non-hardcore" so not too bad. It's actually slower than EQ at lower levels (well, slower for me, but i'm a n00b). I'm guessing they probabaly balanced it better though, so that you can't get to 30 in a few days, and then have it take like a week per level past 52 or so. (yeah, I know you can PL a lot faster, but I mean actually starting out and leveling yourself).

I've been doing the AH, made 4 or 5 gold selling the Green drops that we get duoing. I like it better than the bazaar, except having to reprice every 24 hours, and having to pay the stupid deposit.

I'm really liking it a lot, it's definatly a much needed break. I might return to EQ eventually, but with my guildleader being a prick about me going inactive, among other things, i'm not so sure ~. Canceling 4 accounts definatly helped my wallet out. Thank God I never got succered into that "pay for a year in advanced" thing.[/u]

Bagar the Sexy the Sexy, after you finish in Westfall try out Lakeshire or Loch Modan or both. Lots of quests there. Then Darkshire, then Stranglethorn Vale. That should get you into you mid 40s. If you are on a PvP server be prepared to get killed alot in STV. The Horde really hate paladins. Razz

What server are you on Sondil? Razz And how are you feeling man? I haven't seen you around in-game for awhile - granted I can't now lol.

I wouldn't go to the forums if I were you btw, heh.

Btw, we've done most of the lakeshire quests now (except the level 22+ ones, and the elite ones) and we've done every qiest in Loch Modan. I got dual weild, but I have a bue hammer, so probabaly will just stick with it for awhile.

Doing good Bagar the Sexy the Sexy. I was on vacation for a couple of weeks, haven't been to EQ since I got back.

I'm on Antheron or how ever you spell it. We are doing some 20 man raids, Zg and AC20 looking to gear up for bigger things. The guild has been around for less than a week. Razz

Maybe Wink It takes a lot to get me burnt out on things, because i'm not someone who halfway does things.. wow seems to be expanding pretty quickly (compared to EQ...) and the new expansion comes out this fall. My friends are in a pretty high end raiding guild, and watching them raid, it seems a lot more balanced than EQ raids (no more needing 12 clerics, wee!) The lower raid numbers are a plus - as a (former) recruitment officer, keeping 54 active raiders around is quite a pain. Having 10 and 20 man raids will make it a lot easier for up-coming guilds. Every class has a function, rather than some classes doing a lot ,and some standing around hitting a button (hi wizards! Yes I mean you!)

I can't say if i'll get burnt out on it or not, but I doubt it'll take 2 months, because like I said .. I don't rush things just to get them done for my e-penis ~ I did basically everything possible on EQ before I got burnt out, lol.

I did join a guild, and they are actually really nice folks - they're raiding ZG and blackrock spire (10 and 20 man raids) amd getting ready for ony and hopfully MC, so i'm not sure why they wanted a level 23 priest and warrior lol .. but i'm not gonna complain Smile

Are you a paladin Sondil? How does it compare? I can't imagine you not being a paladin, lol. I might log onto EQ at some point to "talk" to ducru about my "status" with the guild, so maybe i'll see you then. Leyor says I need to stay off the forums Razz.

One thing I do like is that it's more fast paced than EQ was - you don't stand in one spot while someone pulls mobs and beat them down.. you actually have to move around a lot, and as a warrior, you have to be VERY fast on aggro and switching stances, etc.

yes I'm playing a Paladin (holy). It is quite a bit different than in EQ. I spent most of the time healing. In UBRS last night all I did was stand around healing Razz

There is no group heal or non-undead ranged attack in WoW. There is a talent ranged attack that is only available when the mob is at 20% or less health. Only useful against runners. Razz

Just my 2 cents...

I have been playing EQ quite extensively before I left for WoW. I had a blast, the whole time I played WoW. We founded a nice family guild, expanded and leveled, explored the world, etc...it was a great time! We even created a raid alliance with other guilds.

Unitl...I hit 60. What to do at 60? The only real thing you can do is raiding, which in my eyes is a piece of cake compared to EQ raiding. Too easy, too many people who do not know their class well enough (because they only played solo until 60), and so even the easy raids in WoW became a frustrating event. Do not take me wrong, I love this game, but once you hit 60 it is only one thing you are doing all the time: raid until your eyes bleed, to improve your equipment. Nothing else. Oh, I forgot: farm as much you can on weekdays, to gather enough money to pay the repair costs on the weekend raids (hm, you are a casual gamer? YOU LOST!).

In EQ I at least have the option to work on my AAs (nothing comparable in WoW), do a monster mission, whatever. I hoped for Burning Crusade to bring in the promised Hero Classes, but they were completely left out. What comes next? More raiding (at least smaller raids, which is better in general), better equipment, level increase and two new races. Just what I needed. No improvement to guild system (which really needs it), no housing (as promised), no alternative advancement in higher levels (as promised). People leave their guilds after they hit 60, to join large raiding alliances. Guilds are not needed in high end game (I stayed with mine, because social life in guilds is what I like most, but many many left for this very reason). A way to do it better is in EQ2, where you can contribute to a guild, and even unlock raid instances by doing so.

I returned to EQ now, and I love it. Got only 3 friends who joined me, but whatever, we are having fun. Will gladly give WoW a try if they offer something else to do in high end game...as long as this does not happen, my 60 Pally on Circle of Cenarios will remain in the closet. And I remain in EQ, where achieving a high level really means work, and not just effort and time...
