Divine Fetters of Ro for Deathknell

Postby Saintsaens » Sun Apr 20, 2008 5:45 pm

Okay so... I know you need the Divine Fetters for the final event in Deathknell for the clickies to hold Ayonae in place. However, since there are no more keys required, how would one go about getting the Divine Fetters now that the flagging is not required to get into zone? From what I read of hte key quest the Divine Fetters are obtained from turning in the black shard of mana and getting the actual quests done. Does this mean you still need to do the progression in order to kill the final event in Deathknell?

You get the fetters as part of doing the flagging quest for DK.

I know that, but since they removed the flagging, what about guilds who don't do the flagging? Are they still going to be able to beat Ayonae Ro?

Nope they will not be able to beat Ayonae Ro unless they do flagging to get some fetters of ro.

I don't think the intent is to relieve entire raid forces from having to do progression.

For the Drum of Ethereal Thunder? It doesn't seem special to me. It shares the top spot for drum mod with the Co9 one, is that why you want it?

Now that flagging for earth is not an issue one grouping the rathe drum should be easy enough. Before that however bards would just try to grab any 3.4+ drum they could. I know I didnt get my 3.4 drum until fabled but thats more out of lazyness in my case. Other than that daosheen shouldnt be anything special. If you are able to raid Dk however should be able to one group that or grab a few groups and do a few others.

Unless you do the progression for a decent chunk of people (20-30) I think you will be out of luck on killing ARo in deathknell. While she has some good loot - especially the augments, it's just 1 mob (total).

Shame to miss out on it, but I think your time would be much better spent elsewhere rather than doing the whole of the PoR progression to add 1 mob to the kill list.

The point of removing the flagging requirements, as stated by the Devs, was to ease the burdens of new raiders and returning raiders who had retired. For older content, this would allow them to raid without being a burden on the 85% rule. The change was not intended to allow guilds to just skip levels of content. True, it does just that for the most part, but Ayonae is just one of the times in which you'll need some of the actual flagging done.

IIRC, you still need a flagged person to -request- instances, just not to zone in. So at least one person will need to have done the flagging process to even get the Deathknell instance. So unless you have someone who got it doen in another guild, you'll still have to do some flagging regardless.

Our guild was in the midst of flagging for DK when this change occurred. Obviously, we're gonna need to complete the progression, so I can request the instance. My questions is... according to what I've read, we'll need to click the Divine Fetters 25-30 times while she is "vulnerable", in order to make her damageable. How often does she become "vulnerable"? Every 30 secs? Every 60 secs? Or what?

The reason I ask is that with a 20 minute refresh on the Divine Fetters, I can get by with only 20-21 flagged if she only becomes "vulnerable" once per minute. If it is more often than that, I'll clearly need 30ish.

A single Fetter can complete the event in 11 hours. Further Fetters are just for convenience.

I did Ayonae on some open raids on AB this with about 15ish people who had fetters a few times. It just meant running through everyone twice. With the repop timer on the click of 20 mins, it means it takes about 40 mins before you can engage Ayonae. So you need to deal with the various adds for that time - which isn't all that difficult, just time consuming. The you kill Ayonae in about 3-5 mins, burning hard from 75%

Definately doable with 15 fetters, possibly as low as 10-12. But as was mentioned, you'll be having to tank her the whole time, and even with 15 you're looking at a good 30-45 minutes.

Other than fetters you don't do anything to Ayonae until she has been fully "de-fettered" just deal with the adds.

Nope there is no need to do any DAMAGE to her, but you do need to aggro her to start it all off. Just stand off from her and click when the emote says she is distracted. While doing to 20-30 mins of clicking just keep her aggrod with non damaging debuffs, hate effects, stuns etc. If you let her get unaggrod she will reset and all the clicks you have done are lost.

What I'm saying is, the first few times we were trying this event, we would agro her, we'd have tanks using taunt and bazu to keep her on agro, she'd be appropriately debuffed, but no one would be in her melee range. And when the fetters emote came up, and someone clicked their fetters, if she was at 100%, the click would not land, she'd give no "struggles and shakes it off" message. When we did enough damage to her to bring her below 100%, and clicked at the message, she'd give the appropriate message. We took this to mean that you couldn't just stay out of melee range until the 30 clicks landed, then move in and kill her. Which we thought was approprate, as that would completely gimp the event.

If this does work now, well, that's that.

Has always worked, afaik. It certainly worked for us as the 9th guild to beat her, 7/30/06. Perhaps your range tank was too far away?
