I'm not what you'd call a superuser either with regards to interface issues, but I think all you need to do is copy the EQUI_BigBankWnd.xml from the Default to Default_Old folder.

Odds are that in all your dinking around, you removed or renamed something that Default_old needs in order to operate, therefore the UI is loading the default (the "new" UI, in your parlance.)

Short form: You're screwed.
Long form: You'll need to get a copy of a working default_old. alternatively, you can download my butchered but functional and largely similar to default_old version of LodiDodi's UI . Just unzip it into your UIFILES folder. It will create it's own subdirectories, then do a /loadskin LodiUpload from there. Oh, and there's also some custom spell gems and a custom target ring in their own zip files in there if you want to try them out.[/url]

Note: copy from default_old to default or to custom folder; not the other way around.

I don't know that there is ever a reason to copy anything into your default_old folder. Doing so is extremely risky, since, AFAIK, there's no way to recover the contents of that folder and anything you overwrite in it is gone forever.

If you -must- tamper with default old, at least create a backup, or better, copy it and mess with the copy.

Also, in general, there's not much reason for copying files from default to anywhere because the files in default will be used automatically unless there's a file with the same name in the custom path... so unless you're actually modifying the files, it's easier to just rename UI elements that you want to use the defaults for. (It's how I got my bank working quickly and easily. I just renamed the bigbank window in Default_old and it loaded the one from default instead.)
