That has adultery written all over it. Byrnes is a great guy so it is a shame. He is bright cares for his troops and is a real soldier's Genereal. I worked with him geting an action stopped by Mother Army that was initiated against a client. He just said, submit the paperwork and trust that it will go away. It went away because of Byrnes personal involvement. To top it all off, he was in Bosnia at the time and I was in Texas and the other General was in DC.
What get me is that the higher the Genneral gets, the less private time they have. A 4 star has about zero. Everybdy knows where he is 24/7. If it is hiding the bologna. if it is not with his secretary or aide, then he most certainly lost his mind if he thought he could ever get away with it.

Perhaps the lady he was with wound up having ties to a foreign country. That could pose a security risk and in that case they would have been right in removing him from duty. Also if that was the case they may not wish to publicize that data.
However not beign in the military I am not sure how realistic that scenario would be.
