Anyone else notice this?

I was watching the movie Cruel Intentions this evening and noticed yet again for the umteenth time a standing theme in American Movies.

Every time there is a supposedly evilish character in a movie it seems that if the character attempts to change their ways towards the end of the movie it is an unwritten law that that character must be killed.

It blows my mind that movies are so predictable in this fashion and can see no path to allow a person personal change. It also subliminally sends the message that "If you are a bad guy, you better stay a bad guy or else you will be killed".

I find movie themes are just screwed up sometimes.

Rent Dangerous Liaisons instead Shrewd. Cruel Intentions was a (terrible) knockoff of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a classic French (ribald) novel that John Malkovich and Glenn Close took to Oscar winning heights in the English (US) adaptation. You won't regret it.

I actually just got done reading the origional book. The movies based on it would be pretty off if he didn't die at the end. Although after seeing Cruel Intentions and reading Les Liaisons Dangereuses I have to say that the movie was an awful attempt.

Valmont is another movie based on this. I haven't seen it yet, but have heard good things.
