Level range in experience group

This was a toss up between game mechanics and grouping, but how do I figure the range of levels you can have in an experience group so everyone gains experience? There used to be a forumal that I had written down, but that was years ago and I have forgotten.

I believe it is (your level x 1.5) + 1 = max level in your group. For example if you are level 53, (53 x 1.5) + 1 = 80.5 meaning that 53 is the minimum a person can group with a level 80.

Isnt there a rule that if your group is too far apart say a 62char grouping with a 80char the 62 will get crappy xp? it seems that the xp is best for the lower folks once they are within a certain range of the highest level person in the group.

i want to say that rule only applies to aa exp. the amount of aa a lower level earns is based off of what the mob cons to the higher level. it may or may not be true for regular exp to just harder to tell since it is generally in much smaller increments that you gain regular exp.
