The higher level of potion the more counters it cures.

When preparing potions for a specific event I use the following Table to evaluate which potions are needed.
(potion lvl+1) * 4
I : 2 counters x4 = 8
II : 3 counters x4 = 12
III : 4 counters x4 = 16
IV : 5 counters x4 = 20
V : 6 counters x4 = 24
VI : 7 counters x4 = 28
VII : 8 counters x4 = 32
VIII: 9 counters x4 = 36
IX : 10 counters x4 = 40
X : 11 counters x4 = 44
XI : 12 counters x4 = 48
XII : 13 counters x4 = 52
XIII : 14 counters x4 = 56

Sofar this worked, but sometimes you may get complains about your pots of having been sour and not worked.
But this is very rare and I think those rare cases are caused by occasions where other effects consumed the potions, because the victim had multiple AEs to cure. Usually I make the VI pots when the counters to cure are below 28, as this is the best one you can make with vendor stuff.

n counters x 4 in this case means that our potions have 4 layers of cures.
So they are potentially capable of curing multible effects.
Each Layer is consumed completely unless the effect is cured.

Lets take a famos Mob: Arch Magus Vangl
He as 4 different debuffs, 2 of them with disease-counter

First one is the DT.
Mark of Death: Single Target, Unresistable (-1000)
1: Decrease Stats by 10
2: Increase Disease Counter by 14

the second one:
Gaze of Anguish: NPC Hatelist 0', Cold (-475)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 4000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 300 per tick
3: Decrease Mana by 250 per tick
4: Increase Disease Counter by 30

lets presume the Group has only a healer with Radiant cure 6 (RC6 : 25 x Curse 25 x Disease 25 x Poison 15 x Detrimental) or below.

you can have 2 scenarios:
"Gaze of Anguish" landed after "Mark of Death".
"Gaze of Anguish" landed prior to "Mark of Death".

Mark of Death as 14 Disease Counter

case 1.1 Immunisation III pots at hand
you take your : Distillate of Immunization III
layer 1 cures 4 disease-counter, effect still there, 10 counters remaining
layer 2 cures 4 disease-counter, effect still there, 6 counters remaining
layer 3 cures 4 disease-counter, effect still there, 2 counters remaining
layer 4 cures 4 disease-counter : DT cured

no cure power remained to help to cure Gaze of Anguish, the RC6 from the Group-healer wont cure it complete, 5 counters will remain the effect stays up


case 1.2 Immunisation VI pots at hand
you take your : Distillate of Immunization VI
layer 1 cures 7 disease-counter, effect still there, 7 counters remaining
layer 2 cures 7 disease-counter, DT cured

you have 2 remaining layers of your potion, those are now used to try to cure "Gaze of Anguish"

"Gaze of Anguish" 30 disease counter
layer 3 cures 7 disease-counter, effect still there, 23 counters remaining
layer 4 cures 7 disease-counter, effect still there, 16 counters remaining

the RC6 from the Group-healer will cure it, as it is capable to cure up to 25 disease-counter.
(Even a RC3 capable to cure 16 disease counter would be enought).

case 2: "Gaze of Anguish" landed befor "Mark of Death"
case 2.1 Immunisation III pots at hand

the victim is dead either way
if you take first the pot, its not enought to cure the "Gaze of Anguish" so the RC6 will still be consumed by the "Gaze of Anguish", the DT remains there.

if RC6 is first used, there are still 5 counters remaining.
layer 1 cures 4 disease-counter, effect still there, 1 counters remaining
layer 2 cures 4 disease-counter Gaze of Anguish cured

now only 2 Layers remaining for the "Mark of Death" curing a total of 8 counters -> DT lands, victim complains about your pots beeing sour


case 2.2 Immunisation VI pots at hand
used whise it will save your life, but only if RC6 is used first:
if RC6 is first used, there are still 5 counters remaining.
layer 1 cures 7 disease-counter Gaze of Anguish cured

you have 3 layers left for the DT, thats enought to cure it. Victim survived and is happy you supplied it with some good Potions.

The other way around, the Immunisation VI would cure a total of 28 counters of "Gaze of anguish" leaving 2 counters.
Those 2 counters will consume completly the RC6, the DT will still land.

The new XII potions are very handy for the demiplanes.
Lots of nasty Effects there have 50 counters (poison or disease).
This new pots will take care of those.
