54 Nodding blue lilies

Postby Bigcat Daddy-o » Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:08 pm

at skill 210, 54 nodding blue lillies blown up = 2 skill ups.

Amazingly, at about lilly 20, I actually got a succcesful combine! hehe. Up till then I was putting each component in experimental bag, and didn't 'know' recipe. I was able to blow the other lillies up much quicker after that and got one more succesful combine.

You folks AEing Seb for lillies, you use Breath of antraygus? I really need to kill faster, better. Seems to be a higher drop rate of lillies than I recall though, so that helped.

Lillies and deep water inks still the best way to go at this I assume? Anyone find any other farmed item that gets some skill up attempts from 212 up?

Deepwater Inks, from Sirens Grotto or Kedge or PoWater. One advantage of inks is that they are level 9 potion versus level 10 and trivial at 302 versus 340something. So you will get more success. i dont remeber the equation for skill up and if its more skill up for something that you are a better skill level of. Inks are pretty easy to farm in Sirens. I just slow mob panther pet and dot mob and they are dead. I stick to the fish at the CS zone line cause its nice and easy, and fish dont run. Currently fish pathing is kinda messed up though hopefully fixed with this weeks patch.

Seb is nice also i guess i did farming there earlier.

Making potions that are closer to your trivial will increase you skill up rate.

I farmed Kedge Keep, up to 280 or something. It is much easier to get Deepwater Inks, but it will pay much less, since they're hard to sell in bazaar.

In Kedge I could easily get 50-60 inks per hour just killing mermaids and seahorse caves. I went to sebelis a few times along the way, to try out that, but it gave much less ingredients - mainly because it was massively camped, but also because killing took me alot longer.

Just remember an EB item for kedge... they dispell alot :-)

Thanks guys. I did a Sirens grotto farming run last night.

58 inks = 5 skill ups.

Possibly just a random variation, but I think I will go with inks.

Also dont forget all the cash drops you will get when farming the deepwater inks so if you dont break even you should come really close even before you think of selling the potions.

I would also recommend using the inks. I am farming SG for them now and with Alchemy of 231, 160 Inks got me 9 skill ups. With 220 more inks the next night I got 12 more skill ups. Getting the inks is a breeze and it seems to me that the majority of time you get 2 per mob. I have tried farming Seb for lillies and you just dont get near as many lily drops as you do farming inks in SG.

Yes, if they drop inks they always drop two.

when farming seb for lillies, i just take out the disco area. that's usually where i've gotten most of my lillies from.

otherwise, you can always try finding someone to forage the dreadlands for you

walk into seb, walk from ZI all around the upper area, into the disco, and back yourself into a corner...you'll have an impressive train....Drowse of Tortugone, Breath of Antraygus, Panther....if you have pet up, he'll make things go a little faster. expect a good few interrupts, but you'll channel spells enough to wipe them all out.

gemstone drops aren't bad in seb, so you'll line your pockets in VT a little bit while you're there.

Corridor leading to upper zone-out

Postby Isazo » Tue Nov 28, 2006 11:10 am

I do basically the same thing, except I TA-click about 30 frogs, then train them all into the corridor leading to upper zone out, and AE them there. They tend to form a nice line when you get them in there.

Even doing that though, it's semi-annoying to do. Not as annoying as fighting underwater though. I tried Sirens, but killing all that crap underwater is just really a pain. I didn't try very hard, but I couldn't seem to get the fish / sea horses, etc, to chase me up to dry land where I could off them with ease.

Here's a thread from last year when I went from 200-300, used inks from Kedge:

http://crucible.samanna.net/viewtopic.php?t=853

And my summary:

Shiuna wrote:Woot! Glad to have that over with. Overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I was averaging 45 inks and 600p per hour of farming, so I actually came out ahead from 229-300.

It took about 2080 combines from 229-300, representing about 46 hours of farming. Cost for 229-300 was 14,021p, but I kept about 670 potions for my own use, and got about 27,600p in plat and vendor trash while farming, meaning I made about 13,600p for this part, which almost offset the cost of 200-228.

The whole 200-300 project cost me about 3,200p, and I have 670 potions to use.

I think component prices have changed since I did this, so the cost stuff might be incorrect.
