Visible Armor - Group
Visible armor in Secrets of Faydwer goes through a progression from tier 2 to tier 4. You can not simply loot the best BP or Robe from Crystallos, instead you must go through the each step. Links to armor are available at the bottom of the page
The tier 2 armor is divided by armor type and the mobs that drop is drop all 4 armor types for a specific slot. You can find them from the following mobs:

The first step in progressing the armor is to acquire a "Steamcore" for your class. The steamcores drop in tier 3 zones and each one can work for two classes. The cores are:
Mag/Bst - Consort
Clr/Shm - Dedicant
Enc/Brd - Dream

The steam cores drop in set pairs as follows:

Malfunctioning Steamwork Borri in SHIP, Larth the Toad and Wizbobble in MMM

If you are unable to get a steam core for your class it is possible to change them around. In Dragonscale Hills you can purchase a Steam Core Re-gearing Kit for 40k. You will also need a "XYZ Core Gear Kit" which costs 10k. Buy the Core Gear Kit which matches the core type you need (ie warriors buy the Martialism Core Gear Kit). Combine the "XYZ Core Gear Kit" with your Steam Core inside the Re-gearing Kit to create the Steam Core for your class. The kits are consumed, so expect to spend 50k for each core you need to change. The kits require Indifferent faction to purchase.
To upgrade you need to purchase a Steam Core Embedder from the Automated Vending Unit II in Dragonscale Hills (this requires indifferent faction with Ak'Anon Strike Force V faction). In the embedder place your tier 2 armor and the steamcore and press combine. The embedder is consumed in the process.
After upgrading to tier 3 your next drop comes from Crystallos. In crystallos are 4 types of elements, Air, Earth, Ice, Fire. You have some choices here. You can combine your tier 3 armor with one of the 4 elements inside a Elemental Essence Grafter to create a tier 4 armor, or you can combine all 4 essences in Elemental Essence Amalgamator to create a Prismatic Essence. Then combine the tier 3 armor with the Prismatic Essence inside a Elemental Essence Grafter to create the best tier 4 armor.
If you combine with a single essence, and change your mind, you can combine the item in a Elemental Essence Extractor to get back the base tier 3 item as well as the essence.
The 4 essences drop off the named mobs in each of the 4 wings of Crystallos. The containers are sold at various faction levels from the Crusader of Veeshand merchants in Dragonscale Hills.
